Please check Paocai s history, you call it Kimchi in Korean and we call it Paocai in Chinese. Paocai exist over 1500 years ago. I don’t understand why Korean people so angry here, this is just a dish, people can cook whatever they want! I cook pasta all the time and didn’t see any Italian told me off of stealing their culture!

I'm Chinese and I'll never say Kimqi is Chinese food since its name explained everything. In China, we call it 泡菜 or 'pickle' in English. However, what makes Chinese people angry is that Korean people care too much and are denigrating all the Chinese population. As you can see in this video, there're so many types of pickled veges. One of them 14:26 is from northest of China, my hometown, so I definitely would't say it is originated from Korea. So I don't understand why do Korean people react so dramatically. It is just a pickled food!!! Fun coincidence: German's Sauerkraut and the pickled cabbage from my hometown 14:26 share 95% similarity, both in appearence and taste. When I first saw Sauerkraut in Germany, I feel so excited and happy that two such different countries can share something in similar like this. That actually makes me feel proud and makes me feel more like home in Germany. I wouldn't even think about and argue where this dish originates. You only feel insulted when you care too much and are not confident enough.
